September Newsletter
Hello friends! (✿^‿^)
Ah we have made it to another month with many exciting developments!
First of all, if you came out to the Case Study X Location 1980 show this past Friday thank you so much for coming! I hope you had an awesome time. It was great getting to meet so many new people and share my art with all of you! (☆▽☆)

Some Thoughts and Musings...
This month I watched a video of a girl painting outside, and one of the comments said "Begging for attention." I made a video response to that which I have still continued to think about...
At what point does the art stop and the artist begin? Because I don't believe it's at the edge of the canvas. I believe we create as a result of our experiences, inspiration and love for the craft. Art is an extension of the artist. For a lot of artists (including me for a long time) we prefer to shy away from any attention, media, photos on us as the artist. But what I have come to realize is that people like and buy your art for sometimes equal parts the art itself and hearing your story. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, sure, but the beholder's opinion is malleable with context on the artist and inspiration. (I know that's the case for me when looking at a piece of art and learning more about the process of creation).
Personally, for years I have found myself drawn to the outdoors, trees, women, extreme sports, and began incorporating that into my work. If I didn't have those experiences, that artwork wouldn't get made. And viewers and collectors enjoy learning about that process which they can only learn hearing bout me and talking to me. They wouldn't know about it if I just created art in my bedroom and never left.
So yes, I believe it is important as an artist to shameless self promote, get inspired by outside, and if that comes across as begging for attention, then fine :) I am begging for you to look at my work please!
So without further ado, here are some opportunities to look at my work! This month is going to be so busy for me, cut in the middle by a last minute trip to Italy… Please send incredibly focused and motivated vibes my way for the 15 working days I have!

San Clemente’s September Art Walk
I’ve been going to this art walk for years (it’s literally their 2 year anniversary this walk) and I’m so excited to finally be a small part of it. My work will be on display at [the mill], which is a brand new co-working space opened up in San Clemente. This is not sponsored but I was genuinely blown away when I walked into this space, and think you would love seeing it (and my work inside hehe).
"Take Root" Solo Exhibition
MY FIRST SOLO EXHIBITION! Ah I am so excited. On September 26th (the full moon) at Location 1980. Tagline: “Come see all that the light reveals!” I am putting together a witchy collection of paintings to get us all in the mood for a little magic.
For years, watching Practical Magic under the full moon has been a practice shared by me and my friends, and now I want to invite more to the Coven! I hope to see you there. Check out or buy some art, have your tarot read, eat snacks and just enjoy a night with other people!

Really Good Thing This Month...
I've been surfing a LOT recently, and I've been experiencing a mental block on larger waves. A couple years ago I took a wave at the wrong time and my board basically crashed on my head and I had a big old cut and light concussion. Now, whenever I take a big wave I paddle into it, get in the right spot, and then at the last minute I keep tossing my board. It's SO FRUSTRATING because I feel like I am past it but my body keeps doing that. But I was surfing at San O State park, when I did this fumble like I always do, and none other than GERRY FREAKING LOPEZ (Mr. Pipeline) paddled over to me to give me some tips. And they totally worked! Next few days I started taking bigger waves. Thank you Gerry!
That’s it from me, for now. ❁´◡`❁)
